Text Mode turns any words you type into pixel lettering, and you can set it to sit still or scroll across the panel. GIF upload takes an animation straight off your phone and plays it on the lights.

The panel itself is weather resistant and rated for outdoor use, so rain, frost and snow are fine. It is designed to stay up through a whole season.

The one thing to protect is the controller and plug connection. Keep that end under an eave, inside a porch, or in a cheap outdoor socket box. That is true of every outdoor light of this type, not just this one.
